EURO 2022 in Espoo

The 32nd European Conference on Operational Research, EURO 2022, was organized in Espoo in June. The conference had about 1,900 participants who were clearly inspired by human interaction and in-person networking after couple of years of online meetings. Antti Punkka, Professor of Practice, Aalto University and Chair of the Organizing Committee says that Finland has a great reputation as a safe and stable country for hosting events. “I believe that Finland is an easy country for visitors. Most people speak English and all the information you need is easily available. Our public transport system is straightforward, including all the related websites and mobile apps. We get things done on time, even when surprises come up. Finland also has a strong operations research community: the third-largest EURO member society in terms of members per capita.” Thanks to the successful conference and positive experiences in Finland, many participants will now consider Aalto University for their future studies or career path.

Finland’s first Radisson RED to open in Helsinki in 2023

Finland’s first Radisson RED hotel will be opened in Helsinki during the year 2023. Radisson RED Helsinki is located at the heart of the capital just 2 minutes’ walk from Helsinki central railway station. The hotel is facing Kaisaniemi Park and Botanic Garden and offers wonderful views over the city. The striking architecture and bold interior design of Radisson RED Helsinki will offer an interesting contrast to the prestigious landmark architecture surrounding the new hotel, such as the Helsinki central railway station, designed by the architect Eliel Saarinen, Finnish National Theater, and the world-famous Helsinki public library Oodi.
The hotel will have 196 rooms and a deli-type restaurant. Radisson RED Helsinki will be the fourth Radisson RED hotel to open in the Nordics. In Finland, Radisson Hotel Group operates eight Radisson Blu hotels.
