The extensive project on four Sokos Hotels has strengthened Turku’s appeal as destination for meetings and congresses

11/12/2020

Each hotel serves its customers in an individual manner, but their shared goal is offering insightful services and positive experiences.

Original Sokos Hotel Kupittaa opened in July 2020. It completed the project which also includes Solo Sokos Hotel Turun SeurahuoneOriginal Sokos Hotel Wiklund, and Radisson Blu Marina Palace Hotel. The renovation of the latter, with its conference and party venue floors, was the first stage in the historically extensive hotel network project of Sokos Hotels in Turku. A duration of five years and a budget of a hundred million euros give an idea of the extent of this major project.

When the renovation and construction of the hotels started, each hotel was assigned a personality that would make planning easier. Each hotel has its own identity and story that live and breathe the surroundings, history and atmosphere. Solo Sokos Hotel Seurahuone, designed by Ilmari Ahonen and Erik Bryggman in the 1920s, is today known as “Your Favourite Hotel in Turku”. As for Original Sokos Hotel Wiklund, it is “My Best Friend in Turku,” while Original Sokos Hotel Kupittaa is its area’s beating heart. Radisson Blu Marina Palace Hotel promises to be the city’s most stylish congress, dinner and party venue.

Solo Sokos Hotel Seurahuone is one of the oldest hotels in Finland, but it should not be mistaken for a museum. The urban, vibrant and joyful boutique hotel is in the middle of the city’s bustle. The stylish, yet relaxed Restaurant Gunnar celebrates local cuisine, and guests are welcome to spend time in both the restaurant and the hotel lobby. Even though Original Sokos Hotel Wiklund is in the middle of the busy city, the hotel wants to offer its guests the opportunity to relax and calm down.

The hotel building project of Sokos Hotels in Turku will continue for a few years as Radisson Blu Marina Palace is extended. The hotel was recently awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland label for its commitment to sustainability work. Extensions in the Wiklund block are also being planned.
