Lappeenranta lies in Lakeland in Southeast Finland. The city offers plenty of services and shopping opportunities.
Lappeenranta is set on the southern shore of Lake Saimaa, the biggest lake in Finland and fifth largest in Europe. Its Old Town, also called The Fortification, along with its harbour are main locations for musical performances and other events.
There are around 13,000 students in Lappeenranta, and the University of Technology (LUT) has a great reputation for its innovativeness. LUT university and the Saimaa University of Applied Sciences also offer degree programmes in English.
