Nordic Choice Hotels has acquired Kämp Collection Hotels, the leading luxury and lifestyle hotel group in Finland. The most famous hotel in the group internationally is the legendary Hotel Kämp, established in 1887. Nordic Choice Hotels is one of the leading hotel chain in the Nordic countries, known for its Clarion hotels and the Nordic Hotels & Resorts portfolio.

Kämp Collection Hotels includes many of the most famous hotels and restaurants in Helsinki. There are 10 hotels with 1 406 hotel rooms in the group as well as 17 restaurants. The eleventh hotel, a tower hotel in Espoo, will open in 2023.

Scandic has signed a lease agreement for a new meeting and conference hotel in Helsinki. The hotel, Scandic Avenue, will have 350 rooms and will be located near the Old Church Park in the heart of the city. It is scheduled to open in 2022.

Scandic Avenue will be the largest congress hotel in central Helsinki. In addition to 350 hotel rooms, there are plans for 2,000 m2 of meeting space as well as a restaurant and bar. Housed in a historic printers’ building from the 1920s and within walking distance of subway and train connections, Scandic Avenue will be a long-awaited addition to the city’s hotel scene.

Hotel U14, a new Finnish-owned boutique hotel will be opened in the Kaartinkaupunki district of Helsinki. Marriott Hotels, the world’s biggest hotel brand, have agreed to include Hotel U14 in the upper-upscale Autograph Collection chain. The hotel will open in February 2020.

Hotel U14 will offer guests a contemporary hotel with inspiring décor and a cozy ambience, combined with upper-upscale hotel amenities. The hotel will boast pleasant meeting rooms, an upscale restaurant seating more than 100 persons, a cocktail bar, sauna and gym. The hotel will have a total of 117 rooms.

Next year, the construction of Finland’s largest hotel project of all time begins. 711 new hotel rooms will be welcoming guests at Helsinki Airport in 2023. Nordic Choice Hotels will be the hotel operator for the two hotels. The ambition is to open the hotels in 2023.

The new hotel project will be the absolute largest ever in Finland. More than 700 rooms on 13 floors will be combined with both large-scale conference services and a Sky Bar on the top floor, which will offer spectacular view for both plane spotters and other guests. From the hotel there will be a direct connection to the airport terminals and the train station.

Tampere will feature a carbon-neutral city block as Tampere Hall and the Marriott hotel take new steps to reduce energy consumption. The Tampere Hall property has been using renewable energy since 1 November 2019. The hotel will switch to renewable energy by the end of 2019. Tampere Hall is Finland’s first carbon-neutral conference and concert centre.

The hotel, scheduled to open at the beginning of 2020, is the international hotel chain’s first carbon-neutral new property in Finland. The Moomin Museum located in Tampere Hall is Finland’s first museum housed in a carbon-neutral property. Using renewable energy in buildings is a key element in the pursuit of a fossil-free society.
