Pyhä-Luosto National Park and amethyst mine

Experience the magnificent landscape of Pyhä-Luosto National Park, together with the area’s many activities. Two tourist centres, Pyhä and Luosto, are connected by hiking and skiing trails, making this park a superb destination for day trips and short hikes. The nearby Luosto area is known for its majestic old-growth pine forests and Pyhätunturi for its geology and Sámi history.

Another place worth visiting is the sustainable Lampivaara Amethyst Mine, which is probably the only gemstone mine in the world that welcomes visitors. This mine is located at the top of the hill near Luosto centre and introduces guests to the fascinating world of gemstones. You can even dig for your own lucky amethyst!
