Strong cultural roots

The roots of Kajaani’s local culture are deeply embedded in history, and the city’s many plays and concerts at Kaukametsä Concert Hall, as well as the town’s selection of art galleries, ensure that culture continues to play a central role in local life.

Additionally, the town’s library and museums offer plenty of opportunities to admire local artists’ works and learn about the town’s colourful history.

Nature at the heart of it all

Four distinct seasons and plenty of pristine nature provide a range of settings for memorable Kajaani experiences. Ruuhijärvi Lake is a prime fishing destination, and the Vuolijoki area includes the Talaskangas Nature Reserve and the Otanmäki Bird Basin.

Kajaani also has many facilities for competition sports and recreational exercise, both indoors and out, including a nine-hole golf course.
